There’s something about toast time that slows the whole day down. The room gets quiet. People lean in. And suddenly everyone is feeling everything.

But let’s be real… toast time can also go very differently.

We’ve all survived the rambling one. The inside-joke one. The “wrap it up” one. 😅

After witnessing well over a thousand wedding toasts, here’s our best toast tips:

• Keep it short.
2–3 minutes is the sweet spot. Parents get a little extra grace, they’ve earned it, but focused always beats long.

• Ditch the inside jokes.
If the whole room can’t follow it, skip it.

• Share ONE good story.
Not their life history. One moment that shows who they are or why they work.

• Keep it kind.
No embarrassing stories. No ex references. No backhanded compliments. Ever.

You don’t have to be hilarious.
You don’t have to be a professional speaker.

The best toasts are thoughtful, sincere, and said with love… the kind where everyone’s smiling… maybe tearing up… and nobody’s checking the cake table yet. 🥂
