Ocean State Tall Ships The scenic and historic waterfront of Newport is the idyllic setting of the tall ships, and families will enjoy the Parade of Sail through Newport Harbor.

July 6-9 of 2012, the Tall Ships will sail into Newport Harbor, the official host port for the TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® series on the Atlantic Coast, for the Ocean State Tall Ships® Festival. The event will also feature exhibits, food, music and family entertainment. Visitors will be able to board these remarkable vessels, and the opportunity to meet international crew members provides everyone with

Another Tall Ship in trouble.

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued all nine crewmembers from the Canadian tall ship Liana's Ransom 58 miles east of Gloucester, Massachusetts on Monday.

When it is completed, the 200-foot Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island will be the largest Tall Ship of its kind to have been built in this country in the last 100 years. While exterior work below her waterline is being completed, the Perry’s six miles of rigging are currently being assembled in Portsmouth by a team of 20 riggers. Its three masts, with the tallest more than 13 stories high, will carry 20 sails with 14,000 sq. ft. of sail area.
