Overmountain Open The Overmountain Open is a martial arts tournament in Newport, TN, hosted by Newport Karate Center in Newport and East Tennessee Tang Soo Do in Greeneville.

Due to COVID-19, we have decided to move our tournament to 2021. The scientists have said there will be a recurrence in the fall. If that is true, we will have to move it. If it is not true, many tournaments that had been scheduled for spring, with medals/trophies already purchased, will be running their tournaments, and we feel they should have priority.

We will let you know when we have a new date.

Things are finally moving with the inserts. After much discussion and headaches, they should arrive by Jan 2. (Thank you Jennifer Grillo-Foster for taking on the challenge while Dale Gates is still in rehab.) I have already emailed individual studios with the counts I determined, along with complete results. I would like the post the results here but did not get permission to publish minors names on the page. If you would like a copy of the complete results, please message the page with your email address and I will send it. Thank you for your patience.

I must apologize once more. The inserts were not at the Center (where they were supposedly mailed) on Saturday. Since I did not do the original order I have to contact my co-director to see what happened. Unfortunately, he is not responding, for three days. I am worried enough about him that I intend to find someone to go check on him today if I cannot get ahold of him.. Please keep Dale in your prayers that nothing is terribly wrong.

Sorry I've been uncommunicative but I had to catch up on all the things that got put on hold while prepping and running the tournament. The inserts are supposed to arrive today or tomorrow.(Thank you to my co-director Dale Gates to dealing with that during a difficult recovery.) This weekend, I am finalizing results and trying to figure medal/insert coaunts for each studio that entered. I will contact each studio once I have everything ready and mail out inserts once everything is confirmed. Thanks for your patience.

Unfortunately, the pool will not be open tomorrow for after the tournament. There is a problem with the filtration system. They cancelled the morning swim meet also though, which means there will be lots more parking though!
