(247)

The Amica Newport Marathon takes place annually on the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend, and features all of the beauty and grandeur the City By The Sea has to offer. The course is simply astounding: winding ocean-side roads, miles of waterfront views, and sweeping vistas of the grand mansions along Bellevue Avenue. The race will begin at 7:30 AM in Newport, Rhode Island and travel through the city, as well as neighboring communities. The race will utilize a USTAF-certified course and can be used as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon and all other major marathon events.

Only 4 days until race day!

The hard work is behind you. Now, the goal is to arrive at the Amica Newport Marathon starting line rested, fueled, and ready.

A few race-week reminders:

❌ Don’t squeeze in one last hard workout
❌ Don’t try new shoes, fuel or routines
❌ Don’t wait until Saturday night to hydrate or fuel properly
❌ Don’t panic over one imperfect night of sleep
❌ Don’t forget to review the course and aid stations
❌ Don’t waste energy worrying about what you can’t control

Trust your training, stick with what has worked, and finalize your race-day plan. Newport is waiting...we’ll see you in four days!

The Amica Newport Marathon & Half Marathon returns this Sunday, October 11! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

As we welcome runners and their families to Newport and Middletown, we’re grateful to the local businesses, residents and community partners who help make race weekend possible.

Roads will remain open, with police managing traffic along the course, but delays and temporary stoppages are expected between approximately 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. If you’re working, welcoming guests or heading out on Sunday, please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes.

Business owners: sharing a heads-up with employees and guests can help everyone plan for a smoother day.

Find the course map and race details at https://newportmarathon.com/course/ — and join us along the route to cheer on the runners!

New for 2026: even your finish-line celebration is getting greener. 🏅♻️

With support from 11th Hour Racing, every Amica Newport Marathon medal will be made from 100% certified recycled materials.

We’ve also replaced single-use plastic water bottles at the finish with recyclable aluminum cans from Polar Beverages and are using 100% compostable cups at every aid station.

Those changes add up, especially with a record 5,250+ runners expected on race day. We can’t wait to celebrate every finish while taking better care of the place where we race.

Run the miles. Leave no trace. 👟🌎

Trash, recycling, and compost stations will be available throughout the Amica Newport Marathon course and finish area, with Green Team volunteers ready to help you sort your waste correctly.

Please remember:

♻️ Use the designated sorting stations (shoutout WasteNaut Consulting !)
🥤 Place compostable cups in the marked bins
🗑️ Deposit gel wrappers in the receptacles provided. They're all over the course!!!
🚫 Never toss cups, wrappers or other waste on the road

Together, we can keep our course and coastal community clean.

(Our team combs the course after every event to pick up the discarded gel packets and other trash. While we're happy to do it... it's also icky and can get quite sticky. So please, for the sake of our team, hold your packets until a receptacle!)

A greener race day starts before you reach the starting line. 🚲🚶🚗

Help reduce traffic, parking pressure, and emissions by choosing a more sustainable way to get to the Amica Newport Marathon:

🚗 Carpool and share the ride
🚶 Walk from designated parking, just 0.8 miles from the start
🚲 Bike directly to Easton’s Beach and use the on-site bike racks

A little planning can make race morning easier for you and better for Newport.
