Newport - “The Crossroads of Maine”
Did you know that the triangle in Newport is the 3rd busiest intersection in the state? Newport has a unique location due to its convenient driving distance to many destinations and popular attractions throughout Maine. The town also surrounds Sebasticook Lake which offers a beautiful place for residents and visitors to relax, enjoy fishing and go boating.
The town of Newport has recently made some great improvements that are appealing to prospective businesses and residents. Some of the changes and enhancements include a new Public Safety Building which houses our Police Department and the Fire & Rescue Department, a new Public Works Facility, and a newly constructed Riverwalk for the public to enjoy.
In 2017 Newport hosted its 1st Annual Riverwalk Festival. This is a summer event that was designed to give local families, community members and visitors a fun free day offering a variety of attractions. The festival features several great children’s activities, local food vendors, live music, local crafts and artwork, and an exciting parade.
The Riverwalk Festival is just one example of the environment and atmosphere we are working toward for the town of Newport. We hold monthly meetings to continue pursuing our collective visions and ideas. We are always looking for ideas and input to improve our town, so don’t hesitate! We want to hear from you!
