Even though it was a hot day today, many elementary students from all of Perry County came the 14th annual Ag Days at the old fairgrounds in Newport, Pennsylvania; where they got a chance to learn and experience the means of agriculture. But nothing can beat the heat without having the PA Farm Show milkshake.

Let's give a big shout-out to all the FFA chapters of Perry County (West Perry, Newport, and Greenwood) for still building agriculture throughout this county, this commonwealth, and this country. All these students put their efforts in keeping agriculture alive and going strong each day.

F.Y.I.: Ag Days is happening again this year at the fairgrounds in Newport, PA, May 17th-18th, and the fair is having another work day there, May 16th, to get that event ready. So if the FFA chapters and/or all the communities of Perry County are willing to help out May 16th at 9 a.m., things will go well for Ag Days, and for the elementary school kids who will come to learn about agriculture.

Throwback Thursday: Back in 1912, "The Great Perry County Fair," in Newport, PA, had a real special attraction for the people to see, "The Great Curtiss Aeroplane," where Glenn H. Curtiss would do a flight presentation for twenty minutes. There was so many great attractions over a hundred years ago before World War I.

The Perry County Fair is having a work day down at the fairgrounds this coming Saturday, May 2nd. It's mainly maintaining and working on the property so that the fairgrounds can be ready in a few months from now. The Fair is August 18---22, 2026. All Perry Countians are welcome to come and help out in order for the fairgrounds to get ready.
