🐴 Meet NEER North at Newbury Town Day! – 3-6pm

Discover the Magic of Rescue and come meet the compassionate team behind New England Equine Rescue, a local nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses in need. Whether you're a lifelong equine lover or just curious come learn about NEER’s mission and how they give horses a second chance. Every visit helps raise awareness and support for equine welfare in our region. NEER North is powered by community kindness—and you can be part of the herd!
Meet Chip and Don, our mini horse and mini donkey ambassadors, and find out how you can help from home
Visit the NEER merch & donation station – support rescue efforts with a purchase or gift or sign up to volunteer

📦🎨 Build with Painted Boxes! – 12-6pm

Create, Stack, Imagine! Let your child’s creativity run wild at our hands-on Painted Box Building Zone! Kids of all ages are invited to construct colorful towers, forts, creatures, and castles using pre-painted cardboard boxes in all shapes and sizes.

The Pink-House-themed specials, art show, and coloring for kids on Plum Island were a big part of Newbury Town Day, and we so appreciate the participation of all the businesses – along with the Rusty Can in Byfield that donated a gift certificate. Thanks to the Plum Island Airport Radio Control Flyers Inc. AMA # 5198 for the cool miniature aerobatics competition, and to Greta’s Electric Tree for the dynamite performance at Central Street Fields. And we love the intrepid paddlers at White Rose Canoe for offering to host their open house.

The artists who showed off their work during Open Artists’ Studios were a huge hit, and a tip of the hat to those great players from the Essex Base Ball Organization. And thanks to Music by Alicia for engaging the little ones in singing farm songs as part of Kids’ Corner. We could not have done this without the partnership of Historic New England, who hosted Newbury Town Day at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm.

Finally, heartfelt applause to the Town of Newbury, MA, Town employees, and our community Newbury, Massachusetts - Old Town, Plum Island and Village of Byfield for the endlessly enthusiastic support.
