The other day I posted about starting a discussion about potential panels at the new MTD Pop Culture Con....

👀It occurred to me that some of you may not know exactly what a panel at a ComiCon is, or what it is about. It is essentially a group of people who are passionate about a given topic, and they hold a discussion in front of an audience about that subject. There is usually a moderator who helps move the talk along.

I personally have sat in on panels about movies (Jaws, Goonies), tv shows (Supernatural), cosplay, etc. There are almost as many panels as there are interests!!

The MTD Pop Culture Con would like to know what you may want to see at our first event next April (2026). Is there a topic you are passionate about? Would you want to lead a discussion!??!! Just let us know.

Remember too... this is an awesome way to meet people that have the same interests as you!! 🆒

!!ANNOUNCEMENT!!

The More Than Decent Film Festival is excited to announce that for April of 2026 we are adding a comicon!!

MTD Pop Culture Con planning well underway, and we can't wait until we can share all the things coming to Newberry as part of this event.

It's never too early though to get the conversation started!! Tell us about what you would like to see part of our very first con; what is your favorite part of going to a comicon?!? We'll see if we can make that happen!!

Submissions for the 2026 festival are now OPEN!! And we are very excited to announce that we have added a SCREENPLAY CONTEST to the event this year.

The winner of the screenplay contest will get to have their script read live by local talent at the festival!
