Everyone at the Arts Center is saddened to learn of the passing of NJPAC’s lead architect Barton Myers, who passed away recently at the age of 91.

Barton won countless awards over the course of his career, and provided us with NJPAC's unique and iconic architectural design.

Well known for outstanding work that resulted in state-of-the-art theaters and performing arts centers, he architected the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando, Arizona's Tempe Center for the Arts, and more.

Barton taught as Senior Professor at UCLA's School of Architecture and Urban Design, in addition to serving as a visiting professor at Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Virginia.

All of us are forever grateful for Barton Myers’ striking vision of what a community-centered performing arts center should look and feel like.

Barton created a timeless building that continues to inspire and delight everyone who visits it.

May he rest in peace.
