This informative event provided residents, senior homeowners, and renters with valuable insights into New Jersey’s property tax relief programs, including eligibility requirements, available benefits, and important resources designed to support the community. Attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions and connect directly with presenters during the session.

We appreciate Assemblyman Onyema and the State of New Jersey for bringing this important presentation to our community, as well as everyone who attended and helped make the event a success.

Service, sacrifice, and community leadership were front and center at Newark’s annual Police and Civilian Awards Ceremony — a powerful celebration honoring those who continue to protect, uplift, and strengthen our city every day.

Led by Ras Baraka alongside Newark public safety leadership, the ceremony recognized members of the Newark Police Division, civilian personnel, and community leaders for outstanding acts of bravery, teamwork, and dedication throughout 2025.

From the Community Hero Award to distinguished service recognitions, each honor reflected the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes and on the front lines to move Newark forward.

Ivy Hill Neighborhood Association proudly celebrates every award recipient whose commitment continues to make our neighborhoods stronger, safer, and more connected. 💚

Newark’s strength has always been built through people willing to serve others. And this evening was a reminder of just how many continue to answer that call.

🚨 Ivy Hill, this is our home — and protecting it starts with all of us.

As many of you have seen, several businesses and property owners throughout our neighborhood have recently faced code enforcement violations and shutdowns. While enforcement is important, this is also a wake-up call for our entire community.

Clean sidewalks. Maintained properties. Proper garbage disposal. Respect for shared spaces. These things matter. They protect property values, attract investment, support local businesses, and preserve the pride we have in Ivy Hill.

No one is coming to save our neighborhood for us. We have to do our part — homeowners, renters, business owners, and neighbors alike. A strong community is built block by block, property by property, and neighbor by neighbor.

Let’s raise the standard together and continue protecting the value, beauty, and future of Ivy Hill. 🏡💪🏾
