Cosplay Guidelines
*You can enter yourself in our Cosplay Contest by participating in the Cosplay Runway at 11:30am! Voting for the top 3 winners will happen all day by ballot in the Marketplace*


1. Costumes cannot be obscene or offensive, endorse any form of hate or hate group.

2. Costumes cannot depict, and cannot itself, be in violation of any law.

3. Cosplayers are responsible for cleaning up after themselves, if necessary.

4. Prop weapons will be allowed providing they are composed of cardboard, foam, wood or other light materials. Prop fi****ms are allowed only if they cannot be mistaken for real weapons. The barrel of all prop fi****ms must be covered with brightly-colored caps. Prop bows will be allowed providing all arrows have soft tips.

5. The following items are prohibited:

• Functional fi****ms (including air soft guns, BB guns, cap guns, paintball guns and pellet guns)

• Realistic replica fi****ms (including reproduction, fake or toy guns that can be confused for functional fi****ms)

• Functional projectile weapons (including blow guns, crossbows, long bows, silly string, slingshots, water balloons and water guns)

• Sharpened metal-bladed weapons (including axes, daggers, hatches, knives, kunai, shuriken, swords, sword canes and switch blades)

• Explosives (including firecrackers and fireworks)

• Chemical weapons (including mace and pepper spray)

• Blunt weapons (including brass knuckles, clubs and nunchaku)

• Hard prop weapons (including props made of metal, fiberglass and glass)

• Instruments that cause excessive noise levels like vuvuzelas, gr***de whistles and gr***de horns

• Whips

• Aerosol mustard

• Nakedness is not a costume

East Meets West

An open dialogue on the influences of manga and
western comics and their resulting evolutions in film, such as Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven, and Hidden Fortress and Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.

SoHo Host Club Interview
Led by Kaiyan Griffith with Special Guests (W 618)

SoHo Host Club representatives discuss the anime and the culture surrounding Host Clubs.

Sewing 101: Make an Onigiri Plush

Want to sew your own cosplay but don't know how to start? We'll teach you the basics of sewing. Afterwards, you can make an onigiri plush to practice your new skills.

Come discuss the wonderfulness of role-playing tabletop games, including but not limited to Dungeons and Dragons 3.5e, Dungeons and Dragons 5e, and Pathfinder. We will also be giving out at least 15 complete sets of polyhedral dice of various colors, some even translucent. We will also be giving out D&D 5e and other RPG's Character Sheets.

Misogyny in Video Games and its Effect on Women
Led by Kaiyan Griffith (W 618)

Research in the gaming industry has focused solely on male perception of sexist images and sexual stereotyping in video games. There has been scant research on women’s perceptions of sexist images. This panel will examines the influence of misogynistic images in video games on female perception of self and discuss the climate of the industry.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of Marvel & DC
Led by Rich Butler and Dani Chunga (W 619)

Marvel and DC are in a neck-to-neck competition to capture the hearts, minds, and wallets of fans but there have been missteps along the way. This panel will discuss those
elements along with all the things the companies have done that have changed the landscape of comics, movies, and TV. Your panel moderators will be Rich and Dani and students are invited to participate and sound off on what they like,
dislike, or would like to see from both of these companies in the future.

Triforce Quartet Performance and Q&A
PLENARY SESSION (W 614)

The Triforce Quartet is traditional string quartet that plays video game music from your favorite games including Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, and more! Chris Ferrara (1st violin), Jacob Roege (2nd violin), Stanley Beckwith (viola), and Chad Schwartz (cello, arranger, and founder) are based in Washington, DC.
