2017 ANNOUNCEMENT: New York Outrigger​ is suspending the Hawaiian Airlines​ for next year, as our current location is slated for construction in 2017. NYO will work with city agencies over the coming year to identify a new venue that allows the Liberty Challenge to continue growing.

Mahalo to all the athletes who participated in the Liberty Challenge and to Hawaiian Airlines for their amazing support of outrigger canoe paddling.

Additional information is available on the Liberty Challenge website and updates will be posted as we confirm details for future events.

Time corrected results for the 2016 Hawaiian Airlines are now available on the event website. Our sincere apologies for the incredible delay in getting these posted. And a huge mahalo to the 100 crews who helped us celebrate our 20th anniversary by bringing the aloha spirit to New York City!

New York Outrigger hosted the 2016 Hawaiian Airlines Liberty Challenge on Saturday, June 11. The day-long competition brought together the most internationally diverse group of paddlers in our event’s history. The race was also the largest outrigger canoe competition ever held in New York City.
