The Music Division is one of the world's preeminent music collections, documenting the art of music in all its diversity - classical and opera as well as the whole spectrum of popular music including spirituals, ragtime, jazz, musical theater, film, rock and world music. Don't forget: Over 100,000 scores acquired prior to 1971 do not appear in our online catalog. Nearly 500,000 (half-a-million!) pieces of sheet music also do not appear in our online catalog. As with all branches and research centers of The New York Public Library, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts is free.
