In light of incident that happened on Sunday morning April 28th,
On MICO chess tournament.
Organizer Milos Scekic made decision to change paring of 1st round between 67 year old Vladimir Polyakin and NM Evan Rabin for following reason.
Fact 1
On my first tournament 09.28 - 09.30, 2018 so called 1st Brooklyn classical championship in 1st round under 2200 this two players played a game in which Polyakin was black.
In game in which mr.Polyakin was winning final result was in favor of NM Evan Rabin.
At the moment of resigning mr.Polyakin start behaving unreasonable and verbally lashed toward mr.Rabin .
After this mr.Rabin start laughing and with his actions keep agrowaiting mr.Polyakin.
Mr.Polyakin got offended and verbal fight almost finished in physical encounter between this two.
With only quick reactions chief TD Greg Keener and me (Milos Scekic) everything come to the end.
We pull mr.Polyakhin on side and explain him what is correct behavior and what is expected from him in future if he wants to play on USA CHESS TOUR tournaments.
He finished that tournament and next 2 tournaments without any incident at all.
Behavior of Mr.Rabin after winning game from far play point of view was also highly doubtful .
Fact 2
In 1 round of MiCO tournament this Sunday computer parings decide to match old friends again.
Mr.Rabin claimed rating of 2183 on sign up but his posted rating was 2200 for May and he was on 2213 in Foxwoods..so all this is kind of gray area ,could he really play under 2200 or not.
And what is morally right or wrong..
I ask for parings to be changed knowing previous history and trying to protect
tournament and chess players.that was my Motivation, absolutely nothing else.
That was best decision and I don’t have any doubt about that.
Mr.Polyakin lost 2 rounds and quietly left tournament
Mr.Rabin on his own will didn’t play tournament (this happen before 1st round) and will get full refund from credit card company.
Fact 3
What mr Rabin did after that it’s not neither nice nor professional. I am not here to attack anyone and all people who where there know about his behavior and his actions.
I do apologize for bad organization of 2nd (Sunday) day of tournament, but its life things do happen .
We also almost perfectly organized our 3 previous tournaments.
Regards,
Milos Scekic
