Millions of visitors are coming to New York. Is your restaurant ready?
As the city prepares for FIFA World Cup 2026, major transportation changes are already being announced. On match days, 42nd Street will become a dedicated bus and shuttle corridor, with special bus lanes on Fifth and Sixth Avenues. City officials are also encouraging people to take public transit, bike, or walk and avoid driving in Midtown whenever possible.
For restaurant operators, it's worth thinking beyond the crowds.
How will delivery schedules be impacted? Will staff need alternative commuting plans? Could increased foot traffic create new opportunities to attract guests?
The restaurants that benefit most from major events aren't always the ones closest to the action. They're the ones that prepare for it.
NYC DOT has created a World Cup Ready resource page with transportation updates, match day information, and planning tools for businesses and residents: https://hubs.la/Q04jR-Bz0
