Last night we had our second selected shorts of the Left Out Festival - totally sold out - so many wonderful people in the show and in the house. Lots more money made for Bailey House, and to cover the festival expenses. So proud and happy with what we have accomplished.

Last night's staged reading of Topher Cusumano's Getting Away with Mother was outstanding. Full house, spontaneous applause, major laughs - this thing has to have a production, and we are talking now about how to make it happen. Thanks to all who came, and to the cast and our brilliant writer.

Avery is totally f---ed. The deadline for his second book has come and gone, his new relationship is going nowhere, and his estranged mother (pictured below, Cheryl King as Matilda) is about to drop a bombshell that propels his life from dysfunctional to downright dangerous. Come see Topher Cusumano’s wickedly dark comedy…or else.

"In 1973, I was on (Johnny) Carson and, knowing full well that I was a le***an, he said, "Well, you’re not married? Don’t you want to have children?" And the audience went dead quiet. I mean, you could hear a pin drop. It was controversial to be a female and not want to get married and have children. And then I said something like, "Why? Who has custody of yours?" and the audience laughed.

That’s how different the times were just those few years ago. I feel like the gay community has made tremendous progress. They have come up in a much more demanding way. It’s good. I’m proud of them." - actress, director and activist Lily Tomlin
