Friday, Oct 18, 5:00-6:30 pm @ The Segal Theatre

All over New York, long-lived performance venues are in transition, and we’re welcoming the biggest “class” of new artistic directors and associate artistic directors in memory. These leaders take their positions in a fraught moment for the field — they are also taking power with fresh ideas. Join us for a structured, two-part panel discussion, in which we’ll hear first from a group of four “freshman” New York artistic leaders, who will share their ideas and solutions for the quandaries currently facing our field; then we’ll hear from a respondent group of veteran artists, experts in New York performance, who will reflect on these innovations, explore their ramifications, and possibly offer their own. Can we talk about the theatrical “crisis” in a new, solution-oriented way? Can we marry idealism and pragmatism? Can institutions and the artists they serve arrive at solutions together?

This event will be livestreamed via Howlround Theatre Commons.

Shonni Enelow + David Levine present “David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross: WTF” at PRELUDE Festival 2024!

Weds, Oct 16, 6:30-7:20 pm @ Elebash Recital Hall

An expression of pure 80s id, David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross geysers up craven capitalism, deranged method acting, and American maleness at its most revolting. But has its moment truly passed? Enelow and Levine preview the third of their performance dinners at the Invisible Dog, in which actors read, Lucien cooks, guests eat, and everyone discusses great plays with freaky politics.

Performed with Eric Cotti and Noah Gold

Come see Skeleton Architecture at PRELUDE Festival 2024!

Weds, Oct 16, 6:30-7:20 pm @ The Segal Theatre

Skeleton Architecture is a vessel of Black womyn and gender non-conforming artists rooted in the rigor and power of the collective. In practice, Skeleton Architecture engages in embodied research towards the vital building of our Black collective. The body, the practice, and the corporeal and cognitive legacies in the room will inspire a diverse range of group activities and offerings to the public wherein we seek to define our work together further. As Black improvisers, we are eager to share our ongoing “research with the body.”

Is it possible for a room to be empty when your memories keep breaking through the walls? Alison Clancy’s drone-pop-psych-Americana piece So Brutal It Feels Like Home puts you in a liminal space where ghosts ricochet off every surface. This is about the same thing that makes wild dogs howl. Three ...
