In the lead up to our WINDOWS: Open to the Sky Student Showcase, we're featuring the professors whose students will be exhibiting their work as part of the May 8-18 show. "Our SVA BFA Interior Design: Built Environments’ students are my heroes." Says Dr. Carol Bentel , FAIA, FIIDA, Chair of , BFA Interior Design: Built Environments Department, and whose students will be participating in WINDOWS: Open to the Sky Student Showcase, presented by Design Pavilion and . Regarding her students, Carol shared with us that "They have shown resilience, strength, compassion, and passion for finding solutions that can assist others during this challenging time in history. They have been through almost three semesters of remote learning and are dispersed in many corners of the world. We have tried hard to keep our 'community' spirit alive despite these conditions. The Window Exhibition project is a community-building effort for us, one difficult to do because we are all remote, but our communal effort demonstrates – despite it all - our student’s resiliency and tenacity. They are talented and caring and ready for the future. I am proud of each one of them."

Dr. Carol Bentel, is an interior designer, architect, and partner at Bentel & Bentel Architects/Planners. She co-authored the book, 'Nourishing the Senses: Restaurant Architecture of Bentel & Bentel', which includes the design of The Modern Restaurant at MoMA and top restaurant Le Bernardin NYC. She currently teaches the SVA junior interior design studio with a focus on hospitality design with two studios titled “Eating” and “Sleeping,” and curates the SVA lecture series, “Inside the Box."
