John Jay College of Criminal Justice of The City University of New York, an international leader in educating for justice, offers a rich liberal arts and professional studies curriculum to upwards of 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students from more than 135 nations. In teaching, scholarship and research, the College approaches justice as an applied art and science in service to

society and as an ongoing conversation about fundamental human desires for fairness, equality and the rule of law. Since opening its doors in 1988, the Gerald W. Lynch Theater has been an invaluable cultural resource. The Theater is a member of CUNY Stages, a consortium of 16 performing arts centers located on CUNY campuses across New York City and the CUNY Dance Initiative. The Theater has hosted events in the Lincoln Center Festival since its first season in 1996, and subsequent Mostly Mozart & White Light Festivals, as well as the New York City Opera, Mummenschanz, and the World Science Festival. The Theater has been the site of live and recorded events including Inside the Actor’s Studio, Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concerts, Comedy Central Presents, the American Justice Summit, and the NYC Mayoral Democratic Debates. Just a little over a week until Teatro Grattacielo presents Spontini’s "La Vestale" at John Jay's GWL Theater!
 
 Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 28th, starting at 6:30 PM EST. Bloodhounds get to watch the opera for FREE! Present your John Jay student ID at the GWL Theater located by the Lynn and Jules Kroll Atrium on October 28th between 5-6pm. Please note, two tickets per ID.
 
This year, Teatro Grattacielo is reviving the 1954 version of "La Vestale" with the world-renowned opera singer, Maria Callas as its leading lady, as pictured above. Did you know that Callas was a New York native, like many of our Blood hounds? This year, Teatro Grattacielo is celebrating Callas' 100th birthday!

The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay is looking for ushers for the upcoming 2023-2024 year! As one of the few, year-round on-campus paying jobs, joining our usher team has a number of benefits. MAY 6TH, 7PM: Jon Lehrer Dance presents the World Premiere of "Through The Storm" at John Jay College's Gerald W. Lynch Theater. A full company work set to an original score by composer Zeno Pittarelli, "Through The Storm'' represents the past two years of hardship as well as the perseverance required to get through it. The program will also include additional works, and four NYC premieres.

Jon Lehrer (Founder & Artistic Director of JLDC), who originally trained in dance on a dare, received his BFA in Dance from the University at Buffalo. As a professional, he's danced with the Rockettes, served as Associate Director for Giordano Dance Chicago, and choreographed for Dance Masters of America, Jazz Dance World Congress, Chicago National Association of Dance Masters (CNADM), and more.

JDLC is fresh off a successful four-week European tour where the company "captivated the audience with its grandiose choreography and the ensemble's top dance performance without fail. Dynamism, elegance, acrobatics, power and an absolute passion for dance" (Zollern-Alb Kurier - Balingen, Germany)
