The Labor Day weekend began with a powerful, strong production of Flyin' West by Pearl Cleage by Agape Theatre Project with artistic director and director, Kenneth Hinton Sr. The four ladies/sisterhood Lebone C Moses Aya Wallace Babs Watson and Camyrn Sherer had the best relationship and friendship of sticking together through thick and thin! I read of Nicodemus in the bible as a Jewish leader but I did a little research about the show before attending and Nicodemus, Kansas is a real city and the oldest and only all black settlements west of the Mississippi River. Chris Russ as Frank an antagonist could have been eliminated by me bit a profound actor. Evit Emerson was the brother every women would love to have. Now if you want the real 411, get tickets this weekend or next weekend. Don't miss this show! True talent was showcased! It was so nice, I plan on seeing it twice!

It was refreshing to view the production of Sweet Mama Stringbean: The Life and Times of Ethel Waters presented by Agape Theatre Project by artistic director, Kenneth Hinton Sr. this past Saturday. Ms Waters' Legacy was brought to life by songstress and thespian, Pia Morrison ! She demonstrated a powerful movement in Ethel Waters' journey of challenges and triumphs of life! The story was shared by Pia's sultry voice and emanating emotions that touched the audience. The music was orchestrated by Will Ellis and his band including bass player Jerry Smith, Ryan on saxophone, and the drummer. Triple the pleasure since I have seen this production for the third time! It was refreshing to see that it had a revelatory perspective which enlightened my view on a great presentation! I saw quite a few disciples from my church and friends I haven't seen for some time.
If you didn't see it past weekend, you have another chance to see it at North Carolina Central University.
