In person / Workshop / Multiple Techniques
Friday, September 25, 2026
5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
The Tatter Textile Library
505 Carroll Street Brooklyn, New York
Spend an evening with Sooteē and TATTER exploring the enduring practice of block printing. This centuries-old technique carries with it a deep legacy of skill, innovation, and cultural knowledge, sustained by generations of artisans and the talented craftspeople who continue to practice and evolve the tradition today.
Participants are invited to experiment with a variety of blocks, colors, and patterns, taking inspiration from Sooteē’s beautifully designed textiles and the possibilities of the medium. Through hands-on exploration, discover the expressive potential of block printing and leave with your own unique paper block-print sample. Light refreshments will be served.
Alongside the block-printing experience, a selection of Sooteē’s hand block printed and handwoven textiles will be on view, offering insight into the making and processes behind each piece. The display explores how time-honored textile traditions can find new expression through contemporary patterns, compositions, and objects for the home, while celebrating the skill and cultural knowledge of the artisans who continue to carry these practices forward.
