Zety, a resume-building platform, conducted a survey of 1,023 U.S. employees on whether LinkedIn is becoming a space for dating. The survey found that 26% of respondents believe using LinkedIn to pursue romantic relationships is acceptable, while 65% believe it could harm their professional reputation. The results were mixed, though 48% said they find LinkedIn profiles more trustworthy than dating app profiles.

As a matchmaker, this is worth paying attention to. Some matchmakers already run a background check process as part of vetting a match or a client, and use LinkedIn as part of that. LinkedIn can also provide more than career information about someone, it's a quick way to see if someone is who they say they are. So, you shouldn't skip LinkedIn when you do your background check!
