Gina Herrera, “The Misfit Dollhouse” On View At M-ARCH PROJECTS.

The exhibition unfolds across two distinct gallery spaces: In the front gallery sits the throne-like sculpture The Misfit Chair, 2026, composed of reclaimed metal scraps and mannequin legs, which she invites viewers to sit upon and interact with. Throughout her life—as a veteran, teacher, Indigenous woman, and artist—Herrera has often felt like she exists between worlds. That sense of not quite fitting in has become a central theme in her work, though it is expressed with warmth, humor, and empathy rather than alienation. Herrera hopes that this sculpture, and the exhibition at large, will help visitors contemplate their own relationship to their feelings of belonging and individuality.

Locks & Bagels, a solo exhibition by Dennis Dugan, opens next Thursday, 10- 6 p.m. at M-ARCH PROJECTS

Dugan’s work as a photographer, printmaker, and mixed-media artist began in New York. While pursuing his career as an actor in the early 1970s, he photographed people and scenes he encountered on the streets, finding beauty in ordinary people, eccentric characters, and those living on the margins. He eventually began combining his photographs with printmaking, later incorporating glass, wood, metal, and found objects. He often works in multiples, using repetition to create a sense of movement and rhythm.

Tomorrow is the last day to see Steve Alpert’s paintings on view at M-ARCH PROJECTS.

Alpert’s paintings move between recognizable imagery and more intuitive explorations of color, form, and gesture. Landscapes, water, and sky frequently serve as points of departure, but the works are less concerned with description than with the experience of looking. Layered surfaces, shifting forms, and expressive brushwork allow atmosphere and feeling to become as important as the subject itself.

Whether painting the natural world or creating more intuitive compositions, Alpert approaches his subjects with a belief in painting’s capacity to create connection, preserve experience, and invite reflection.

M-ARCH Projects is pleased to present our upcoming show, Locks & Bagels, a solo exhibition of new and recent work by Dennis Dugan.

Across photographs, prints, mixed-media works, found objects, and text-based pieces, puns and familiar phrases are taken apart and put back together visually. Sometimes the joke is immediate; sometimes it takes a moment for the words and image to connect.

This exhibition marks a personal return for Dugan to New York, the city where he first began making art

Next Friday is the last chance to see Steve Alperts paintings on view at M-ARCH PROJECTS.

This exhibition focuses on an essential dimension of Alperts practice, where painting becomes a space for contemplation, and the external world is transformed through imagination and feeling.

In Flock (2024), thick, layered brushstrokes form an energetic web across the canvas. The contrast between the dark, crisscrossing strokes and bursts of pink and orange brings a sense of depth to the composition. As the pale blue background filters through the markings, Alpert creates a sense of rhythm and movement.

On view at The Misfit Dollhouse are a series of newly created wall-based sculptures constructed from handmade paper pulp and plasma-cut metal frames. Delicate yet structured, these works bring together materials that seem to occupy opposing worlds: the vulnerable, tactile qualities of paper pulp set within their brightly colored, ornate metal frames painted in bright colors.
