The Farm Stand is officially open! Cooler weather is finally here and we are ready for it! Come out today and shop local - we're open until 4 PM at 2617 State Route 232, New Richmond, OH, just 3 miles South of Bethel.

We have a full house of vendors today:

Arise & Shine - fresh lowers + our homemade sourdough goods, (breads, croutons, tortillas, pizza shells, granola, brownies and more).

We also have house plants carefully propagated and tended to with much love by my daughter.

We have some paracord keychains crafted by my grandson and some beautiful floral trinket dishes crafted by my granddaughter.

And last, but not least, I have a lovely friend who is very talented with a crochet hook. There are stuffed animals, kitchen cloths, key chains and more!

It's a true family affair this Fall and we'd love to see you here! Grab a light jacket, bring the family and come find your new favorite things!

See you soon!

Thank you Simmons Farms for all the hard work you do in the background coordinating local farmers while buildng a community! I don't know how you do it, but you are surely appreciated by those of us that are blessed to have you in our corner!

🌻 Local is better when we work together.

One of the things we’re most proud of at Simmons Farms is partnering with other hardworking local farms and small businesses to bring more fresh, locally produced foods to our community.

When you shop with us, you’re not just supporting one farm—you’re helping support growers, bakers, beekeepers, mushroom cultivators, flower farmers, and other small businesses throughout our area.

Thank you for choosing local. Every purchase makes a difference for families like ours.

❤️ We appreciate your support more than you know.

People ask me all the time, what my favorite flower is and my usual response is the ones with petals. 😄 It is so hard to pick just one, but if you look around the farm, one that particularly stands out is the hydrangea.

God puts so much beauty in these blooms — and honestly, they hold a special place in my heart. 💜

So how do you make that beauty last? If you've ever tried to dry hydrangeas and ended up with brown crumbly petals (guilty 🙋‍♀️), here's what changed everything — timing. Wait until the petals feel slightly papery on the plant before cutting. Then choose your method:

🌸 Vase drying — stems in a few inches of water, let it slowly evaporate over 2-3 weeks

🌸 Hang drying — bundle 3-5 stems upside down in a dark, dry spot

🌸 Silica gel — the extra step that keeps color most vibrant (find it at any craft store!)

Most importantly, keep them out of direct sunlight — that's the color killer.

Let me know if you have any tips or tricks for drying hydrangea 💜 💜
