Huey P. Long Bridge Run The Great Huey P. Long Bridge Run, an annual 5K run/walk offers a great run/walk over a historic bridge. Since 2013, The Great Huey P.

Long Bridge Run, a 5K run/walk, celebrates of the incredible widening project of this historic bridge. Each year runners enjoy a professional, safe race experience and receive premiums to commemorative their crossing. After the crossing, the event hosts live performances and dishes up local cuisine in the shadow of the bridge while trains cross, blow their horns and engineers wave to attendees. It

’s not easy crossing the Huey P, but it sure is fun and its a great way to see the city and southeast Louisiana from a bird’s eye view. Be sure to bring your family and friends, and make it a great day to “GEAUX OVER IT!”.

After closely monitoring the weather forecast, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 HPL Bridge Run.

With thunderstorms expected throughout the day—and the potential for lightning—this course presents unique safety risks, including an exposed route and an elevated bridge with no access to shelter.

We don’t take this lightly, but your safety comes first.

Here’s what participants need to know:
✔️ Packet Pick-Up will still take place tomorrow (bibs, shirts & medals included)
✔️ Additional PPU Monday at Ochsner (4–6 PM)
✔️ All participants will receive a $20 credit toward a future event, up to and including the Louisiana Marathon Weekend (check your email for full details)
