The Sugar Bowl’s mission is to seek out, promote, finance, sponsor, schedule, conduct, and operate an annual calendar of local, state, national and international amateur and collegiate sporting events in the Greater New Orleans area and the State of Louisiana for the purpose of generating tourism. Through all of its year-round slate of events, the organization has generated over $2.2 billion of economic impact for the city and the state in the last decade alone.

🏆 Ashtyn Rogers of Patrick Taylor softball has been named April’s Allstate Sugar Bowl Athlete of the Month, presented by LCMC Health, becoming the first athlete in school history to earn the honor.

Rogers led the Tigers to their first LHSAA state semifinal appearance, striking out 15 while adding two hits and two runs scored in a quarterfinal win over St. Charles Catholic. She also threw a one-hit, 12-strikeout complete game in a 5-1 victory over Academy of Our Lady to advance to the quarterfinals.

📚 In honor of , the Allstate and College Football Playoff Foundation visited Woodland West Elementary in Jefferson Parish to recognize seventh grade math teacher Margarita Custodio and Principal LaTonga Watts-Toney, each receiving $1,000 DonorsChoose cards for going above and beyond to support their students.

As an added surprise, Woodland West Elementary was selected for the CFP Foundation’s Extra Yard Makeover, receiving a $50,000 grant to transform and enhance its learning environment!

Thirty-seven players who were on Allstate Sugar Bowl rosters were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. Five first-round picks had Sugar Bowl connections, including four who played in the game and this year’s Manning Award winner.

Fernando Mendoza, the 2025 Manning Award winner as the nation’s top collegiate quarterback, was selected No. 1 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders. He is the 14th Manning Award winner to be selected in the top three of the NFL Draft and the ninth to go No. 1 overall.

The highest pick who played in an Allstate Sugar Bowl game was Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, who competed in the 2025 College Football Playoff Quarterfinal. He was selected No. 3 overall by the Arizona Cardinals.

Over the last 10 years, 374 Sugar Bowl players have been selected in the NFL Draft, including 85 first-round picks, with a high of 10 in 2023. The Sugar Bowl had a record 44 selections in last year’s draft.

🥎 Emma Curry, Spring Hill Softball

The 2022 Mount Carmel graduate is wrapping up a standout career as a pitcher at Spring Hill College, ranking among the winningest pitchers in program history with 38 career victories.

She is also near the top of the school’s career charts in innings pitched (423.1), complete games (27), and strikeouts (246). A three-time All-SIAC selection, Curry is a two-time First Team honoree and helped lead Spring Hill to back-to-back SIAC championships.

A business entrepreneurship major, Curry was a two-time MVP at Mount Carmel and led the Cubs to the LHSAA quarterfinals as a senior.

In addition to the student honorees, two sports industry leaders were recognized for their contributions to the game and the community at the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame Awards Luncheon, presented by LCMC Health.

Will Peneguy was named the 2026 recipient of the Contributions to Amateur Football Award, honoring efforts to promote, preserve, and advance the game.

Jay Batt, the 56th president of the Sugar Bowl Committee (2013–14), was recognized posthumously with the 2026 Distinguished American Award, honoring individuals who exemplify service to the community and make a lasting impact on amateur football.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl Chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame hosted its 2026 Awards Luncheon, presented by LCMC Health, highlighted by the announcement of five Allstate Sugar Bowl college scholarship recipients.

Anthony Scandurro (Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy) received the $20,000 Oliver S. Delery Scholarship. Four $10,000 scholarships went to Will Berry (Jesuit), Dylan Butler (Booker T. Washington), Calvin Drake III (Isidore Newman), and Wyatt Perritt (Northlake Christian).
