Our thoughts are with New Haven Pride Center and we wish them the very best in working out there current situation and hope they will be able to resume operations. However being the original founder of the pride event in New Haven in 1998 and having invested over 20 years of time and resources in assuring its production each year we will be hosting the event in September to assure its continuity if they are unable to do so. Stay tuned to this page for future information.

Here's some Ct Pride Trivia, let's see if you know the true answers 😎

1. When was the first New Haven Pride Event? Answer: 1998.. it was " The Rally " portion of Connecticut Prides 3 day celebration

2. How many Pride events did Ct have in the 2000s Answer : only 3 .. Ct held in Hartford. New Haven and a picnic in Ridgefield

3. If June is the typical gay Pride month why does New Haven and Hartford do them in September. Answer: These dates are actually much more personal than you'd expect. Originally all Ct Prides were held in June, around 2005 With Gotham Citi doing the NY parade in June the logistics of doing both events in one month proved challenging so New Haven was moved to August. The following year for whatever reason , CT Pride choose the same exact date in August so New Haven pushed its date back to September . I cant tell you with all definite why Hartford mirrored New Havens date a year later each time, but I can tell you September for New Haven was merely too ease scheduling conflicts so that they did not interfere with NYC Pride

This page has not been updated for quite some time as the last Pride Event that was produced by the people that started this page and the New Haven Pride Event in 1998 and kept it running continuously all those years was in 2021 at the North Haven Fair Grounds. As we all remember it was covid and we felt it was important to have a in-person event so we rented the fair grounds in both 2020 and 2021 to make that happen. Others are now doing pride events in New Haven and we wish them much success. We may come back in the future to bring you more events but as of now that is undecided. We will start to post pictures and articles from all of the prides dating back to 1998 , from the Green in the late 90s/early 2000s, on Church and Crown for the next 10 years and on Orange and Center Street for the last of the 5 years so that the history of Pride in New Haven is accurately preserved. As always have a Happy Pride
