It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Mary Pat Teichow, the original founder of Michigan’s Antique Yard Sale Trail. Mary’s vision and passion helped shape this event into something truly special for our communities, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
Although we worked together only on occasion, as the Trail’s growth rapidly expanded, I always valued her insight and the way she approached the world, with generosity, creativity, and a genuine love for connecting people. She offered guidance at key moments that helped strengthen the south end of the Trail, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
Her loss is felt on a personal level as well. Her grandson and my son have been close friends for nearly a decade, and our families have crossed paths in many meaningful ways over the years. This is a difficult moment for many people who knew her in different capacities.
As we look ahead, I want to reassure everyone that the Yard Sale Trail will continue as strong as ever. I’ll be carrying forward the organizing and coordination for both the north and the south end, just as I have in recent years, and I’ll be doing so with a deep respect for the foundation Mary built. My goal is to honor her legacy by continuing to grow the event, support our vendors and communities, and keep the spirit of the Trail alive.
Please keep Mary’s family, especially Lonnie, her daughters, and her children in your thoughts during this time.
