Classical and improvising cellist Eric Edberg is Cassel Grubb University Professor of Music Emeritus at DePauw University in Indiana (USA). He is principal cellist of the Lafayette and Anderson Symphony orchestras in Indiana, and has a large private studio.
Part I: Introduction
With Selma Gokcen and Josh Salter
Selma and Josh introduce some basic principles of navigation across four strings. We will explore what to do, a bit of what not to do and the reasons for both. Exercises, excerpts and some filmed extracts will be shared.
Finally, we will look at the concept of artistic fi*****ng—fi*****ng in the service of phrasing.
