Sierra Poetry Festival Sierra Poetry Festival is a project of Nevada County Arts Council.

Celebrating National Poetry Month from California’s Gold Country to the High Sierra, Sierra Poetry Festival culminates as a dynamic mainstage event on April 18, 2026, complemented by SPF Fringe—a month-long series of pop-up literary events We will present our 6th Annual MAIN STAGE SIERRA POETRY FESTIVAL on April 30th, 2022 at Miners Foundry Cultural Center in Nevada City, attended by some of our most exciting local, national and international poets and performers, and preceded by a month-long POP-UP POETRY FESTIVAL, taking place in venues across Nevada County and beyond.

RIP, poet.

Just heard from Carol Lynn Grellas that Indigo Moor, poet laureate emeritus of Sacramento, and long time friend and associate, and former board member of SPC has passed. He has struggled with health issues for a long time.

His fifth major collection, Reconstructing Eden: A Southern Bastard’s Lyric Journey, was recently released by CavanKerry Press.
