As USA cycling posted today they have suspended all permits and insurance until April 7th. Since we are permitted with USA Cycling and have our insurance through them we will have to cancel Wednesday night track nights until April 7th. The Fairgrounds are also asking promoters to postpone all events so we fall under that as well.

So we will not have track rides the next 3 Wednesday nights.

Sorry to have to do this but it is in the best interest of the community and keeping our riders safe at this time.

We will post when we can start back and keep everyone up to date on what is going on.

Please let anyone that you know not on Facebook that comes out and rides on Wednesday’s.

Just got a message from the adaptive athletes program and they are unable to make it out again this week so open riding will once again be open this week 4pm-8pm. With the time change we should be able to get some great riding in before dark this week. Tomorrow looks great and most all the rain chance has been removed so looking forward to some great riding at the track tomorrow night.

Make sure that you are signed up on the BikeReg site and have paid the one time yearly fee and signed the wavier before coming out.

See everyone tomorrow evening make sure to invite all your friends!

Weather looks great tonight for riding at the track. Because of tornado damage to the Nashville School for the Blind they had to send all the kids home so they will not be riding tonight. So open riding will begin at 4pm-8pm.

Just make sure you are registered on the BikeReg site ahead of time if you plan to come out tonight!

While tomorrow is supposed to be chilly we will still be out there tomorrow for anyone that would like to ride. It is a bit to chilly for the adaptive athletes program though so they won’t be coming out tomorrow they hope to be out next week. Since they won’t be coming out the track will be open tomorrow at 4pm for everyone to come get some riding in while it is still daylight out and a bit warmer maybe.

See everyone tomorrow night!

Finally we have a decent looking Wednesday after the last two monsoon weeks.

We will be back out there tonight on the track just like every week. The track will open at 4pm while the adaptive athletes work to get setup. The adaptive athletes will have the track exclusively from 4:30-5:30pm. If anyone would like to come learn to captain a blind athlete on a tandem they can always use the help of experienced riders.

At 5:30pm the track will open to everyone for open riding.

We enter the track from Gate 8 also known as the tunnel gate off of Craighead Street and park in the interior of the speedway track. Just enter through the gate and proceed through the tunnel and then parking is on your left. See picture for details.

Everyone that rides must be registered on BikeReg and have signed the waiver so make sure to do that if you plan to come ride!

Make sure you are signed up and registered before coming.

Hope to see some of you out there!

Marty with Adaptive Athletes will be utilizing the track on Wednesday evenings also from 4:30pm-5:30pm. This is a program to get blind athletes on the back of tandems to be able to train outside in the open air which is very rare for these athletes.

Marty is looking for new Tandem Captains both male and female and if you have a tandem bring it out also. If you are an accomplished rider/racer with good skills that you would like to offer there is always a need.

We hope we can help out with this program as well as a community of riders!

Make sure to share and let all your rider friends know about this. This is for every rider recreational and racer alike.

The track is a great place to get a good structured workout in. You can go as hard or as easy as you want. You can’t ever be dropped as you just sit up and wait for the group to come back around.

This is a great place for triathletes and time trialist wanting a very consistent pace. This is a closed course with no stop signs or cars to worry about.

You can ride till you can’t ride anymore and then you just pull off and your car is right there. No need to hold anything back to get back to your car.

We hope to see every out there on Wednesday evenings!

Nashville Speedway Riders is a new program setup for the entire cycling community of Nashville, TN and all surrounding areas. This is a benefit for all that is being funded by generous donations from Walk Bike Tennessee. We have reserved the Nashville Speedway Track every Wednesday night the entire year starting February 5th and it will be open rain or shine 5:30pm-8pm.

There will be 12 dates that open riding won’t be available during the summer for the Music City Crit Cycling Races. On those evenings open riding will be available before races start at 5pm as well as in between races. We encourage all riders to come check out the races and spectate if not participate. Gates will open at 3:30pm on these days. We will post those dates here ahead of time. You can also see them on the TBRA website just look for the Music City Crits Dates here:

https://www.tbra.org/raceschedule.php

This is a big investment by Walk Bike Tennessee and we sure hope that everyone takes advantage of this opportunity and we are able to show great usage and participation.

Everyone must be registered to be able to ride on Wednesday’s mostly for the wavier. All Waviers will be kept online via BikeReg no paper Waviers will be used or accepted. There is a slight yearly charge of $10 for adults and $5 for juniors to help cover insurance. The charge and wavier will be one time only good for the year.

Here is a link to the BikeReg site to register for the year and sign the waiver. Please have this completed ahead of next Wednesday if you plan to ride.
