Magda the StorySpider weaves new life into old stories, spins tales for the young and the not-so-grown-up, and knits up those loose ends of myth, legend, and other feats of wonder. For the last three years, she's professionally performed stories at the Fairy Tales Bookstore, East Nashville Farmer's Market, the Linden Waldorf School Elves’ Faire, and Nashville's International Festival of Books, as

well as traveled to various Tennessee libraries, from Benton all the way up to Sullivan and back to her home county of Davidson.

General information

In 2009, Magda the StorySpider was a featured teacher-teller at the Lockeland Design Center, introducing children from Kindergarten through third grade to live storytelling. Then she and her workshop partner Pete Turner were invited to teach public and school librarians how to enhance their Storytimes with acting and storytelling techniques during a 3 hour workshop at the TLA annual conferences 2010 & 2011. In 2012, she also hosted a storytelling workshop with the teens at the Smyrna Library, helping kick off their Summer Reading Program & performed for the Jonesborough National Stortyelling Festival's 1st Annual Story Slam. Then 2013 was the year Eastside Tellabration!, founded by Magda and the 5 Point Merchants, celebrated its 2nd anniversary of local stories and music. Last year, she also expanded into the world of adult audiences, performing for "That Time of the Month" at Cafe Coco in June and September. She is a member of Explorastory, a Storytelling Guild affiliate of the National Storytelling Network, based out of Hendersonville. The group has performed for the Hope Lodge of Nashville, the Tennessee State Haunted Museum 2011-2014, and even hosted their own storytelling concerts at Rock Castle in Hendersonville, such as "Spirits at Rock Castle” (6 years running) and "Appalachian Christmas" (3 years running). This past April, they organized a mini-festival featured local teller, Minton Sparks. Magda is available for library and classroom Storytimes, workshops, birthday parties, house concerts and special presentations.
