A celebration of flight and beer, OBX Brewtag is modeled after the whimsical and entertaining Red Bull Flutag, translated to “flying day” in German. With OBX Brewtag, the general premise is the same, although rather than human-powered flying machines, Brewtag contestants will be competing to see who can launch and fly an empty 1/6 keg barrel the furthest. The cost to compete at OBX Brewtag is only
$150 and the sky is the limit as to how creative your homemade flying contraption can be! Admission to the event is Free. A rather crafty selection of local and regional beer and food will be available for purchase that day. This family-friendly event will also feature plenty of activities for the kiddos! The event will be held between 12-6. Gates open at 11pm and last call will be at 5:30. You don't want to miss the biggest North Carolina Beer event on the OBX! Please review the below policies. Full payment is required to fully book your team(Max 4 people per team). We are not able to “hold” your team’s spot without payment. Your card will be charge when you click “accept” on the final confirmation page. We accept Visa, Master Car, American Express, and Discover. If you wish to pay by cash or Kitty Hawk Kites gift card, please call/text Kitty Hawk Kites Reservations department for assistance at 252.251.4314. Weather: Weather changes frequently on the Outer Banks, and many weather forecasts are inaccurate. Due to these factors weather related changes will likely not occur until very close to the time of the event. The organizing committee will closely monitor the weather forecast the week prior to the event to make a determination on the weather. It is very unlikely that the event date will be changed, but should OBX Brewtag get rescheduled, you will be notified immediately, There is no rain date for this event this year. We will not be able to offer a refund, but will your team entry fee will transfer to the following year’s event. Cancellations / No shows: If your team needs to cancel its registration, OBX Brewtag will offer a full refund if at least 30 days notice ahead of the event is given. Cancellations within 30 days of the event are non-refundable. If your team does not show up, no refund will be granted. Late arrivals: If you’re going to be late to ground judging and/ or the competition, please call 252-305-5561 as soon as possible. We live on island time and try to be understanding, however point deductions and possible disqualifications are possible for holding up the show. Alcohol: No member of your flight crew may consume alcohol prior to being on the flight deck. Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited inside the flight zone and on the flight deck. Members of your team may enjoy the Beer Garden after your team entry has flown. In order to receive beer at the event you will need to purchase a Brewcard on site the day of. You will be carded at the gate and may only purchase a Brewcard if you are 21 or older. You will receive a wristband to identify that you are 21 years or older. Any of our beer tenders or security staff may deny service or remove you from the event if they believe any ABC laws have been broken. No outside food or beverage is allowed inside the event. Law enforcement will be onsite should there be any issues or emergencies!
