Dear Residents and Business Owners of the Marsh Walk Area:

Our organization is hosting a 5K race on June 6th 2026. We anticipate the event lasting from 7:30AM to 10:30AM. We have applied for a Special Events permit with Georgetown County and the Sheriffs department will be assisting.

To minimize the impact of the road closures, we are attempting to notify all impacted neighborhoods.

Our event will impact the following:
- Hwy 17 Business southbound lane from Wilcox Avenue to Chandler Avenue
- Wilcox Avenue from Hwy 17 Business to Murrells Inlet Road
- Murrells Inlet Road from Wilcox Avenue to Wachesaw Road
- Macklen Avenue From Murrells Inlet Road to Flagg Street
- Flagg Street from Macklin Road to Chandler Avenue
- Chandler Avenue from Flagg Street to Business 17.

Since there will be individuals running on the streets, the cross streets will also be affected on the course. If you need to cross the race course, please be careful and patient. We will have representatives at most of the intersections of Murrells Inlet Road to assist with the safety of the runners.

We could not hold this event without the support from the family of American Legion Post 178 Murrells Inlet!

This past week at our meeting, The American Legion Post 178 Murrells Inlet and the American Legion Riders SC Chapter 178 presented checks to the Sweat For A Vet 5K.

These veterans and veteran supporters spend countless hours volunteering and raising funds for our LOCAL military veterans. The words do not seem to express our level of gratitude.

If you see a rider with a American Legion Rider vest or someone with a American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary or Sons Of The American Legion shirt or hat, give them a big THANK YOU! They wear them for the pride of the organization, not to be trendy or stylish.

If you are a part of the Wounded Warrior Project and were thinking about attempting to run a 5K race. NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!

We have teamed up with the WWP to help the warriors become more active. Please contact the Wounded Warrior Project for more details on how they can assist with your registration.

This is a timed event, but also a fun run (There are quite a few walkers), and our course monitors will make sure that NO ONE IS LEFT BEHIND. Everyone finishes one way or another.

THIS IS WHY WE ARE HERE!
