LAYOUT UPDATE FOR ROUND 1
After a lot of discussion and testing, we’ve decided to go with a fast, flowing layout featuring a big entry and a cut across the entire track. It’s something we couldn’t really do at SNMP, and while it’s a simpler layout on paper, we think it’s going to create some incredible tandems and put the focus where it belongs—on driver skill.
It wasn’t an easy decision to leave the banking out of the layout, but there were a few reasons behind it:
1. Safety. Not everyone in the field has a fully caged car, and the last thing I want is to see someone get hurt or miss the rest of the season because of a Round 1 incident.
2. Tire conservation. This layout will help drivers get more seat time and keep tire costs under control throughout the weekend.
3. Competition. Running the banking would have created a significant advantage for the higher-horsepower cars. This layout keeps things competitive and rewards driver ability over horsepower.
Looking ahead, I’d love to require cages and utilize larger, faster sections of tracks in the future. But make no mistake—this layout is still big, fast, and built for great tandems.
Huge shoutout to Nick and Julio for helping dial it in, and Chandler Crawford for bringing it to life with another killer graphic.
