I have an incredible story today directly from Spruce Pine, NC, one of the small towns Mitchell County services where the donations we are collecting here at our hub will be going.
I have become acquainted via another trusted friend, with a lady that is living through this mess. She fortunately still has her home but Samaritans Purse had to gut her basement.
She has been instrumental in making sure we are indeed on task for donations that the hub has been keeping me updated on.
She sent me an urgent “Rebecca, there is an elderly couple that I know that needs roof repair desperately.”
I asked her to try to round up an experienced roofer in that area and the OSB that our friend, Julie Keech-Harris donated for, will help these folks before the deep of winter really sets in. What a blessing it is to know a specific person the donations are helping!
Could you all pray an experienced roofer with all the equipment and other material will step up and be close to the situation rather than having to travel hundreds of miles?
I also love and am thankful that my friend from church, Julianne Fulleylove Harrell
that has a professional cookie and cake business, is sending a couple dozen cookies with us for the hubs for those sweet American citizens just doing volunteer to help American citizens.
Don’t forget to get your order for goodies in for the holidays!
We already placed our order for personal consumption for Thanksgiving.

Directly from a lady in Spruce Pine, NC this morning

Generators are desperately needed but pls include the carbon monoxide detectors for safely.

They don’t need whole house generators unless you have the means and they have the way to get them installed. We are talking one to run some heat and a refrigerator and a lamp.

Please remember the haul from here is leaving Nov 12 so if having shipped needs to be here not later than November 10

We heard personal stories of a lady that lives not far from Spruce Pine, NC yesterday.
The houses that once were there are just a memory. Several people lost including a five year old boy who jumped in the river to save his dog. So sad!
182 people living in tents in this small town where she lives and winter is there in the NC mountains. I do not know the population before the river washed everything away but there are only 2 traffic lights.
Still only American citizens helping American citizens.

Please everyone don’t forget, while we sit in our warm home this winter there are people that have lost everything including loved ones and are staying in tents.

It is an honor today to be nominated for Countey Duo of the Year for the song Jamey Bagwell wrote When She Walked and also our venue is up for Venue of the Year.
To be nominated all by itself is a great feat even if we do not carry away the awards tonight.
