The Association is dedicated to enhancing the pleasure of owning and riding horses through creating better horses and horsemen. The Tennessee Stock Horse Association became an official affiliate in January 2012. However, stock horse shows have been held in the state for over a decade. A regular ASHA weekend consist of a clinic followed by competition. The clinic topics generally cover the four events of the American Stock horse Associations shows, working cow horse, reining, stock horse pleasure,and stock horse pleasure. In Tennessee, the clinics also emphasize good horsemanship and techniques in getting a horse broke. The next day, the competition is held. There are seven approved divisions for every level of competitor at ASHA shows.
