Last night the Ag Sales team competed in the Section 16 Ag Sales CDE held at Taylorville. This year, teams were selling welders for Lincoln Electric. For this contest, each individual completed a written exam, had an individual sales call, and completed a team portion where they developed a pre-call plan. This contest requires a lot of preparation from members ahead of time to learn the products and to develop the skills necessary to make a sale! Our team did a great job and placed 3rd overall! Team members were Brookelyn Jackson, Izzy Martin, Huck Lowrance and Ty Burgener! Huck was our high individual last night! Great job to all!

It was a beautiful day to Feed the Farmers of Assumption and Moweaqua yesterday! We appreciate all of the hours, hard work, and heart you put in to feeding the world! Thank you to GSI for donating the water and to Gregory Intermediate for the awesome cards for the farmers! We hope you enjoyed!

It’s been another busy week! On Wednesday, we headed to Bethany for the Section 16 Soil Judging CDE. During this contest, members evaluated 4 different pits based on soil properties, agricultural practices and homesite practices. Our team members consisted of Ty Burgener, Avery Canaday, Cooper Elliott, Noah Hebert, Jillian Hennings, Brookelyn Jackson, Huck Lowrance, Mabry Metzger, Charleigh Minott, Noah Vincent, and Makenzie White. Thank you to Chris and Ty Burgener for digging us a practice pit! A big thanks also goes to Okaw Valley for hosting and to the Moultrie County Soil and Water Conservation District and Okaw Valley FFA members for the delicious lunch! Contest results to come soon! There were some technical difficulties with the judging cards :)

Our Feed the Farmers day is coming up in one week! We are excited to be out at the 4-way stop in Moweaqua and at Assumption Grain in Assumption on Thursday, October 8th from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm! Swing by and grab a delicious meal for you and your workers as a thank you from us for feeding the world and keeping our agriculture world going! We are wishing you all a safe and bountiful harvest!

You have one week left to get your Nelson's Catering tickets purchased! We will be selling tickets until Thursday, October 8th. Please find an FFA member or comment on here and we will get the tickets to you! You can also email Mrs. Burgener at [email protected]. The meal is on THURSDAY, October 15th from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. Our annual FFA Nelson’s Catering Chicken Dinner Fundraiser 🍗 is going on now!

Tickets are $14 and include a 1/2 chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, bread and butter, a roll and all utensils!

Meal date is THURSDAY, October 15th (the tickets are incorrect) and can be picked up drive-thru style in the high school parking lot between 3:30 - 5:30 pm.

Pick it up....Take it home....Supper is ready! Tickets must be presented when meals are picked up.

You can purchase a ticket from an FFA member or by contacting Mrs. Burgener at the high school - 217-768-3866. Tickets will be sold until Thursday, October 8th. Thank you for your support!

Hey all! We have leftover mums in the greenhouse that are for sale, if anyone is still looking to add to their fall decorations! They are $12 for the 9-inch and $25 for the large tri-colors! Stop in between 9 am and 5 pm! The greenhouse will be open!

On Tuesday evening, our chapter hosted the Section 16 Leadership Training School at Mt. Zion High School! Our very own Section 16 officers, Adyson Lowrance who is serving as the president and Izzy Martin who is serving as the secretary, along with their fellow section officers, have spent many hours over the last couple of months planning out this fun and engaging evening for the members of Section 16!

While there, our Greenhands (1st year members) attended a team building workshop with Adyson and the Illinois State FFA Vice-President, Collin Johnson. They had a great time working through several different obstacles, in team settings, and learning how to “Evolve Into the FFA Member You Want to Be!”

Our officers and non Greenhand members attended three different workshops titled “Evolve or Stay Behind,” “Evolve Into Your Surroundings,” and “Evolving to Succeed.”

After attending the workshops, our members heard a great keynote from State FFA Vice-President, Collin Johnson.

It was a great evening of learning about premier leadership and personal growth!

Last night, four of our members attended the Section 16 Job Interview LDE! Isabella, Charleigh, Ty, and Frankie advanced on from the first round a couple weeks ago where they sent in a cover letter and resume. Last night they filled out an application, did a phone interview, an in-person interview, and sent a follow up letter. Ty placed 1st overall in the JV division and Frankie placed 6th overall! Isabella placed 2nd in the Varsity division and Charleigh placed 4th! Isabella and Ty will now move on to districts next month! Great job to those members and good luck to Isabella!

A huge thank you goes to our awesome community members and Central A&M FFA Alumni and Supporters members for taking the time to come in and practice with our members! Your time and knowledge is greatly appreciated!
