The Uwharrie Ultras will be held on October 21-22, 2023 in the Uwharrie National Forest. The race is held on a 20.5 mile figure 8 loop consisting of technical trails filled with roots and rocks covered by a lush forest canopy. Runners participating in the 100 mile event will complete the loop five times and 100K runners will complete three loops. 50k runners will complete 1.5 loops. Pacers will be
permitted after runners have completed two of the single track loops. The registration limit for this event will be 125 total runners between 100 mile and 100k distances. Registration limit for 50k event is 50 runners. 100 mile entrants will be required to have previously completed a 50 mile event within the race's established time limit. As an exception, runners may use Uwharrie 40 mile Mountain Run or Mount Mitchell Challenge as a qualifying race. Questions about qualifying races can be directed to [email protected]. Due to the high technicality of the course, there will be a 36 hour cut off for both the 100 mile and 100k races. Runners participating in the event are highly encouraged to train on technical terrain prior to race day. We will be conducting monthly training runs beginning in March for those that are interested.
