G’morning all!

Update for September: the race will unfortunately be canceled this year. A portion of the course was impacted by the Vista fire, and I just don’t have the ability to ensure a safe alternate course in such a short amount of time.

September 2025 will bring us a new race course! The new map, coordinates, and instructions will be posted by late spring/early summer. Keep an eye out here as well as our website for further updates!

Good morning everyone! I know you’ve all been waiting for an update, so I’ll get right to it.

As I’m sure some of you have seen or heard, we will not be having a spring race this year. While I would like to continue holding two events every year, it’s unfortunately just not feasible at this time.

The 2024 Baldy Marathons 100 Mile Challenge will begin Sept 7. The website and entry form will be updated to reflect this soon. Once the weather allows, we’ll have a guided run of the first 20 miles for anyone who wants to learn the route. Keep an eye out here for updates. Shoot me a message with any questions, train hard, and we’ll see you before too long!

So many thoughts on this. Just going to say that it’s wrong, and you’ll never see me at an event affiliated with UTMB/Ironman after what I’ve read about them the past two years or so. Besides, who in their right mind wants to run an ultra that’s sponsored by SUV manufacturers? Hard pass.

I am quite literally shaking right now as I type this and watch the UTMB – Ironman announcement for a Whistler race next year. Around 9pm last night, all 3 runners finished one lap, and called it quits. The rain, cold, and extremely low visibility made things much more difficult to navigate than usual, and the 13th Baldy Marathons 100 Mile Challenge ended after a mere 11 hours.

Gus through at 2:26PM, Loreto at 2:44PM, Mark at 3PM. Raining off and on, some hail, and low visibility. Potential for snow as well. All three are soaked, cold, and pushing on to the second half.

Two weeks out from race day! We currently have 11 runners registered, with plenty of room for more. There’s a good chance we see our first ever 2x finisher this year! New buckles are finally completed and ready for anyone who can complete the entire 100 miles in 60 hours or less. Website is currently being updated but the signup link is still active, and will be until 24 hours before the Start. Detailed instructions, updated Punch info, and updated GPS coordinates have been posted for the runners and crew/pacers in the private group.

Fall update:
Race date is Sept 30th. 10 AM start. 9 AM mandatory briefing. Will be updated on the website this week.

Apologies for the brevity and lack up updates, my work situation has been out of control since the sale of the company I’ve been employed at. But the fall race is definitely happening. 10 signed up so far, and a handful of others on the fence, so I’m anticipating a good turnout.

Spring update:

Portions of the course are still impassable, and with the current weather it’s unlikely that this will resolve before the first weekend of June. Due to this, the spring race is canceled. The fall date is still TBA, but I will have an update on that soon. Thank you to everyone that planned to attend, I hope you’ll be able to join us in the fall when we can safely navigate the course.

Date announcement:
Due to excessive snow, the 2023 Spring Baldy Marathons will take place on June 3rd. While unfortunate, this does provide runners with the added bonus of a supermoon on Saturday.
