WARNING: LONG POST (sorry, not sorry!) 😎
It’s the day after 2019 Highway 2 Hale and this is coming from Angie Skinner Hughes! I have had 24 hours now to rest and reflect on the past few days, weeks, months! It is always hard to write the thank you post and not leave someone out because it definitely takes a village to pull something like this together. I’m so proud of our 5th Annual Highway 2 Hale and how it went. There will always be hiccups and things we could have done better, but I truly believe that overall we had a fantastic event! 💯🔥🚲🙌🏼
I’m so thankful for a small team of people from AAF Tuscaloosa that have worked to help make this ride happen for five straight years!! I truly believe this was the best one yet! I feel the love from the cycling community so greatly now. We have had the chance to get to know so many of you and learned a LOT about a world we knew nothing about 5 years ago and not a lot about even 2 years ago! Thank you all for teaching us and helping us to make this better for you! And for your commitment to continue to help us make it better for you!
This year we also took on a new beneficiary of the ride - Boys & Girls Clubs of West Alabama (BGCWA)! And I can’t imagine how we would have pulled off the day at home base without you and I know the Magnolia Grove rest stop group was happy you were there too! What a wonderful group of BGCWA staff, parents and kids who were so willing to serve and help and continued to look for ways to give! What a difference maker you guys were! I’m so excited about growing our relationship in the future. And I am so proud to also be a BGCWA board member too!!
Thank you to EVERYONE who registered for the ride! We appreciate your support and hope that you all enjoyed yourselves immensely!

We are indebted to you and can’t wait to help you with Hot Hundred Tuscaloosa pb Druid City Bicycle Club in July!!
Thank you to members CK Nichols and Ted Goode for volunteering to be on our H2H Committee and helping us with so many aspects of the ride! And thanks to a plethora of TCC members who showed up and rode strong!!

And to all my other AAFT peeps (and a few bonus peeps) who had a hand in volunteering, you are the best peeps ever!!! I’m so thankful for all of you!!!
So in the words of Coach Nick, we’ve had 24 hours to celebrate.....now let’s get back on the 2020 Highway 2 Hale!!! 🚲
