A different kind of traffic jam in Moss Landing!
If you’ve traveled through Moss Landing recently, you may have noticed that some of the local sea lions have taken their haul-out a little farther than usual, even venturing onto the roadway near the harbor.
While it’s certainly an unusual sight, please don’t stop, approach, or gather to watch or photograph them. This is an active roadway, and these are large, wild animals that need plenty of space. Crowds can create hazards for people and sea lions.
If you’re driving through the area, slow down, stay alert, follow any directions from officials, and give the sea lions the right of way. If you encounter sea lions on foot, keep your distance and never try to move or encourage them back toward the water.
Moss Landing businesses are open and ready to welcome you. Come enjoy our harbor community, grab a meal, visit our shops, and experience the coast. Just help us keep this particular wildlife spectacle from becoming a roadside tourist attraction.
