Once again, I will post the loss of a WSJHS office alumni. I do keep track of most but these are much closer to my heart.
Kay Lansing helped the crew in the office for the 5 years or so while I rode and I believe continued for another 5. Mom passed August 25, 2025. She will always be my biggest horse show fan.

Kathryn Ann Lansing
January 13, 1940 — August 25, 2025

Kathryn Ann “Kay” Lansing, born January 13, 1940, in Flippin, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in Yakima, WA on August 25, 2025. Kay’s journey was marked by a love for her family, the organizations she worked with, and the friends made wherever she went.
Throughout her life, Kay exhibited a commitment to excellence in everything she did and tended to expect the same of others. Her take charge personality was so much a part of her. She was elegant, fun-loving, and outgoing.
During retirement, she enjoyed traveling the United States with her husband Don and supporting her favorite organizations and family. She loved to sew, crochet, and read.
Kay is survived by her daughter, Kimberly; niece-in-law, Barb Baucom Lansing; nephew, Todd Lansing and his wife Denise. Kay is preceded in death by her husband, Don; her father, Herman; her mother, Bessie; her brother-in-law, Richard; and her nephew, Daniel.
As we reflect upon Kay’s life, we celebrate a lady who genuinely cherished every moment and left an indelible mark in our hearts.

On July 13, 2025, we lost a longtime supporter of the Washington State Jr Horse Show. Don Lansing announced the show in either Ring 1 or Ring 2 for over 25 years. If you rode any time from the late 70's to the early 2000's you may have heard him. May he fill the skies with his songs.

Donald Lee Lansing
August 3, 1938 — July 13, 2025

Donald “Don” Lee Lansing, born August 3, 1938, in Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully in Yakima, WA on July 13, 2025. 💧🐴 Most equines don't drink enough during transport. Offering loose hay - which horses can consume too quickly - results in large amounts of dry matter lacking sufficient saliva to forage ratio - combined with large particle sizes from not properly masticating indigestible fiber. Slow feeders can help address these issues by:
🔸Increasing chew time & producing more saliva
🔸Further reducing particle size
🔸Increasing saliva to forage ratio, which provides moisture and aids in digestion

Slow feeders can also minimize the risk of impaction colic at home and on the road.
