KURT AND LAYNE: April 5th marks the dual anniversaries of the deaths of both Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley.
Kurt Cobain, lead singer and guitarist of Nirvana , died on April 5, 1994, in Seattle, Washington, at the age of 27; his death was ruled a su***de. Kurt's cremated remains were divided, with portions kept by family and scattered in locations including the Wishkah River in Washington, and he does not have a single public gravesite.
Layne Staley, lead singer of Alice in Chains , died on April 5, 2002, in Seattle, Washington, at the age of 34; his death was determined to be due to a drug overdose. Layne was cremated, and his remains were given to his family; no public burial site or gravesite has been disclosed.
