I am getting EXCITED for the upcoming Steeplechase Farms Continuous Drive to be held next Wednesday (Feb 15th). Since my ability to count may be suspect, we have 31 entries ready to rock the neighborhood!
So much is going into the planning and ex*****on of this event, and we (the organizers) are looking forward to more fun for everyone. I will be sending out eMail to all competitors over the next few days with information that will help ensure you have a great time. Knowing what to expect and removing unnecessary surprises is the goal. The Order of Go is nearly complete, and will be released no later than Monday afternoon.
Our terrific SPONSORS have returned!!! Triple Crown, Fit-Right Saddlery, Chrysalis Acres, and Good Apple will once again award cash prizes. Nancy Veile (Fellowship Farm) was out on a boat excursion, and apologized that she would not be back on land in time to donate awards. However, Dan Smith Photography has stepped in to award the Training and Preliminary Reserve Champions with custom 11” x 14” prints, with upgraded frames and mats (the latter to be picked up by winners at the end of the event).
Doc’s Jiffie Dogs will return with his amazing fare! I hope competitors, their friends, and our neighbors will buy out Doc Baillie’s dogs this time. They really are that good
The Pace has a new twist this time: A Maze In Trees!
Gambler’s Choice Cones has a new course design. It will again be a “blind” drive (no advance walk) with the challenge being to drive as many cone sets as possible in a 2-minute window. Red is always on right (some drivers were very adept last competition driving sets backwards). A reminder here that the Wave must be completed with all letters in order to achieve the points (A, B, C, and D). There will be a “Double U” again as well as Oxers to earn higher points.
A reminder here that when you arrive to check in, please pick up your packet and sign the cards to thank our sponsors. Also, please remember to use the Number in your packet!!! Much of the scoring program has been preset for these numbers to ensure a quick turnaround.
We will start promptly at 9:00 AM. If all goes according to plan, we will wrap up all competition by 3:45 PM and finish scoring by 4:30 PM. Awards will be distributed immediately. Winners are asked to be present to receive their awards as we do not have a means to otherwise distribute (except for Dan’s photos which will be printed later in the week).
Thank you to the competitors, volunteers, and sponsors for making this event fun to host! I look forward to seeing all of you on Wednesday!
