Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament - Morris, IL

After much consideration, the MDDP Board has decided not to host Gus Macker in 2016. Over its 13 years, the tournament brought many people to downtown Morris and provided a fun event for youth and adults. However, hosting Gus Macker is labor intensive and it has been increasingly challenging to recruit Organizing Committee members as well as volunteers and volunteer groups to work during the tournament. The time required to organize it and the logistical issues often associated with Macker have made it difficult for the MDDP to enhance and grow other events and programs. To be good stewards of the resources available, the MDDP will move forward with other family-oriented downtown events next year. Thank you to the sponsors, volunteers, and players who helped make the tournament possible. We ask for your continued support of MDDP events that will better serve the changing needs of our downtown community.

A big thank you to this year's Gus Macker – Morris volunteer groups! This morning volunteers gathered to be recognized for their support and were presented with checks to thank them for their part in making this year’s tournament a success. Due to the success of this year’s tournament, Gus Macker Morris was able to increase their donations this year.
