Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Mike Quick was one of the 1980’s premier playmakers, teaming up first with quarterback Ron Jaworski and then later with Randall Cunningham. He’ll hope to give a similar spark to his Eagles teammates at the 2013 Rival Golf Classic as they take on NFC East rivals in Clifton, New Jersey.

Quick played nine seasons in the NFL, all of them in Eagle green. Over the course of his career he amassed more than 6,000 career receiving yards on a staggering 17.8 average yards per reception. Some of that was helped by his record-tying 99-yard touchdown reception in 1985, but more than anything it was a product of his rare combination of athleticism and cerebral technique.

With Quick making plays on the offensive side and a punishing defense led by head coach Buddy Ryan, the Eagles were a force to be reckoned with in the late 1980’s, winning at least ten games in each of the Receiver’s final three seasons.

The former All-Pro has stayed true to his old team long after retirement, as he currently provides color commentary on Eagles radio broadcasts.

Former Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Jeremiah Trotter was known for laying the wood on opposing ball-carriers during his 11-year NFL career. He’ll need to lay woods, irons, and putters to beat his NFC East rivals this June at the Rival Golf Classic.

Trotter is best known for his time in the middle of an Eagles defense that wreaked havoc on opposing offenses for the better part of a decade. His Philly squads reached the playoffs five times in Trotter’s eight seasons with the team, winning three division titles and the 2004 NFC Championship as the linebacker earned four trips to the Pro Bowl and All Pro honors twice.

These days the Texas native has taken his business off the field, opening several car washes in New Jersey as well as a salon.

As a consumate team player and leader, it’s hard to imagine Trotter taking his talents to an individual sport like golf. That said, if the former linebacker can hit a golf ball as hard as he used to hit NFC East running backs, we’re likely to see some long drives from him.

That's why the call him "The Axe Man":

Former New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer will test his status as a tri-state area legend at the 2013 Rival Golf Classic at Montclair Country Club in Clifton, New Jersey this June. Toomer was anything but benign to his opponents during his career with the G-men, amassing over 10,000 all-purpose yards, 57 touchdowns, and a Super Bowl ring during his thirteen years wearing blue and red. He brought his Kung Fu skills to the field (check out the video!). Hope the other Rival Golf Classic Players know what they're getting into!

Let Us Hit You with Some Knowledge: Did you know that Brian Mitchell holds the NFL record for most combined yards by any one player against a single opponent: 3,076 all-purpose yards against the Dallas Cowboys? Think any Cowboys will try to get some payback on Brian at the 2013 Rival Golf Classic?

When opponents tried to tackle former Redskins, Eagles, and Giants all-purpose back Brian Mitchell, they usually had two thoughts: “Here he comes…” and then, “There he goes.” Can Brian blow by his NFC East competition at the 2013 Rival Golf Classic on June 24th?

For fourteen NFL seasons, Mitchell was a threat to score every time he touched the football. The former college quarterback at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now known as Louisiana-Lafayette) was converted to a kick- and punt-returner upon being drafted by the Washington Redskins in 1990. He went on to one of the most prolific special teams careers in NFL history, winning a Super Bowl with the Redskins in the process, earning himself a spot in their Ring of Fame.

Who's playing at the Rival Golf Classic on June 24th this year? Who's not would be a shorter list! Let's start with Ed “Too Tall” Jones. "Too Tall" made a living feasting on NFC East quarterbacks in the 70s and 80s. In this interview at last year’s Rival Golf Classic, he sounds hungry for a win, telling his opponents he hopes they’re “happy with second place.”
