Grooming update 1/5/20

**GROOMING UPDATE**

The South Rim Road was groomed yesterday. Two sets of classic tracks were set on either side of the road. Overall snow-pack in the park is at 19". Happy skiing!

**GROOMING UPDATE**

The park received 11" of snow from the last storms, bringing the snow pack to 20". The South Rim Road was able to be rolled to High Point today, and classic tracks are planned to be set tomorrow.

Online registration is now available for the 2020 Winter Rim Romp:

The course is groomed over the South Rim Road and maintained by the National Park Service.  The course is an out-and-back with rolling hills and views of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.  The race is self supported with refreshments provided at the start and finish, but not along the course.  Th...

UPDATE: Due to the snow drought this year, the 2018 Rim Romp will be a winter running race with snow and ice conditions present. Snowshoes or spikes or just running shoes are all acceptable. Runners should be prepared for a variety of conditions including ice and slush.

Registration begins at 9:00 AM ($25) at the Black Canyon Visitor Center and the race begins at 10:00. Prizes will be given for 5K and 8K distances. There will also be a noncompetitive fun run/walk 5K. All participants will receive a fleece beanie and refreshments at start/finish line.

The after party will be at Brew & Bogie at the Black Canyon Golf Course in Montrose (1350 Birch Street - off Hillcrest near the Elks Lodge). There will be a FREE pint of beer and a bowl of chili for all participants in addition to some great raffle prizes.

In the event of a government shutdown on the 8th, the park rangers have assured us the race can go on as planned. Please join us and be prepared to thoroughly enjoy our beautiful Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
