One year ago today, my world changed. My mom went to her final resting place. She was proud of everything we were building out here and was always our biggest supporter. Today is not for sorrow. It is for honor, and the future we are building.
Many of you have been part of our journey from the beginning, from our masonry business and Tate’s craftsmanship, to the traditions we’ve built here on our Christmas tree farm and the life changing moments we host at our wedding venue, it’s never just been about the trees or masonry, it’s been about creating a destination – a place where heritage and hard work meet.
Today, we are announcing the next chapter of our story – Hearth & Pine General Store. Hearth & Pine will be the physical heart of everything we do here. It’s the intersection of the strength of the hearth and growth of the pine.
This will be more than just a shop, it will be a destination, along with the same high-standard quality you’ve come to expect from everything we do here. We are curating a space filled with local goods from our community, hand selected antiques and collectibles and timeless merchandise that tells a story. And for the first time, we will be offering our own Hearth & Pine customized items – pieces designed to bring the spirit of this land and our family’s craftsmanship, along with other creative artisans into your own home.
We are building a place for the old souls ~ a place where the pace of the world slows down to match the rhythm of the land.
I recently read in Phil Knight’s book, the Shoe Dog, “Because mothers are our first coaches”
Our moms have watched us cry, worry, struggle, work hard, win, celebrate, and persevere. And if you are a mom, we have watched our own children do the same. This is for our lives constantly changing, looking for our new identity, searching for and finding our purpose.
Hearth – Symbolizes the “heart of home”, representing warmth, comfort and the family unity. Often acting as the spiritual anchor of our daily life, we often gather and sit on our hearth, sharing stories and jokes, laughing and crying.
It’s where we slow down in a fast paced life.
Pine – Represents resilience, wisdom, and peace, often viewed as guardians. Pine trees represent strength and steadfastness in faith, able to remain green and endure harsh winters.
To answer a couple of questions that you may have ~
1. We do not have an opening date. We are planning for some time this year!
2. The store will not be open to the public during weddings. Our place is still your private place during that time. We will offer private shopping experiences during your wedding if you would like.
If you have questions, let us know below! We will address them in the coming weeks.
THANK YOU! Thank you for following along this journey of ours and thank you for the support you have given us these past 6 years! Some days are exciting, some days demand more. We laugh, we celebrate, we cry, we sweat, we continue on. It is all part of the journey and we are happy you are along for it!
Also, this is our fireplace and I promise there is a hearth under all that good stuff!
