Group quilts are all about collaboration—multiple makers contributing their own ideas, blocks, or sections to create one incredible finished piece. From classic quilting bees to modern swaps and round robins, this tradition has always been rooted in community. 💕

Come to to admire the artistry at the Montgomery Quilt Walk 2026!

The theme for this year's event is "Group Quilts" and we are looking for all types of quilts - modern and traditional, applique and pieced - to show off the versatile skill set of our local craftsmen and women.

Group quilts have a rich history in America. The Oklahoma Historical Society notes that group quilts are historically rooted in American quilting bees. They are collaborative textiles created by multiple people to foster community, share news, and produce functional art. Emerging strongly in the 19th century, these projects (including signature and friendship quilts) often commemorated weddings, moves, or wartime support. They served as vital social outlets, fundraising tools, and expressions of collective identity. Today, group quilts have expanded to include opportunities for individual members to stretch their skill sets and use unfamiliar groupings of color in order to create an addition to the project that suits the aesthetic of the whole.

Not interested in working with a group? We celebrate all styles of quilting and the enduring legacy of this beautiful art form and encourage entries of all types of quilts!

🧵✨ 2026 Theme Announcement! ✨🧵

If you've been to the before, you know that each year brings a special theme! 🎉 These themes give quilters a chance to stretch their skills and let everyone see the many creative ways artists interpret the same challenge.

Past favorites have included “Show Us Your Curves” and Lone Star Quilts ⭐—and it was incredible to see so many unique interpretations displayed together!

💫 This year’s theme: GROUP PROJECTS! 💫

You can enter your quilt as a group project with very few limitations—just gather at least 4 quilters and start creating! 🧵💖

🪡 Grab your quilty crew and make something amazing together!
✨ Bold patterns, bright colors, modern or traditional…
🪡 Stitch memories and friendship into every square

Some fun ideas to get you started:

🎉🧵 What a weekend! The Montgomery Quilt Walk 2025 in Historic Downtown Montgomery, TX was absolutely amazing!

From the beautiful quilt displays winding through downtown streets to the talented makers sharing their creations, every moment felt so full of community, creativity, and Texas charm. The weather cooperated (yay!) and the town’s historic vibe made the experience even sweeter. 👏✨

Big shout-out to all the quilters, vendors, organizers, and attendees who made it such a memorable two-day event.
